Crimpinfo has reviewed several connector manufacturers recommendations to reveal typical insulator stripping dimensions of 6,5mm-7,5mm . In some instances no +/- is given, typically 6&#8217;35mm and 5,8mm. Crimpinfo is developing an accessory that will be attached to standard industry wire strippers to allow operatives to achieve an accurate and repeatable stripping dimension. specific areas results in lower piece part costs.</span></p>

<p>Eight indent crimping is a requirement for tools conforming to MIL-DTL-22520, in particular: M22520/1-01, M22520/2-01, M22520/7-01 &amp; M22520/39-01.</p>
<p>These tools incorporate an eight indent crimp configuration and full cycle ratchet control. They are proven to provide a high tensile strength crimp joint and low electrical resistance.</p>
<p>A specific turret head or positioner will ensure repeatable positioning of the indents in the contacts crimping zone. A data plate on the turret head or positioner provides information on the wire sizes and applicable tool selector settings.</p>
<p>With the optimum indentor setting selected for wire and contact it is often possible to achieve a crimp joint that exceeds the UTS (Ultimate Tensile Strength) of the wire.</p>
<p>Special indentor configurations are also available.</p>

<p>These tools accept a range of hardened tool steel dies that have a multitude of hexagon sizes for RF coaxial contact applications, specific to RG cable or ferrule size.</p>
<p>The die set is snapped into the retaining mechanism of the crimp tool then snapped out again for a different application, therefore minimising the number of tool frames required.</p>
<p>These crimping tools feature a full cycle ratchet control mechanism that is designed not to release until the crimping cycle has been completed.</p>
