Rectangular

Rectangular connectors are used in a wide range of industrial and rack & panel applications. Certain types known as Arinc connectors are configured to accommodate a range of power contact sizes from 12 to 22 AWG.

A selection of MIL-DTL-22520 approved crimping tools and accessories are available to crimp this range of contacts. There are several QPL sources for the connectors.

Aerospace standard and rectangular avionics connectors are modular by design and may contain power, signal, databus and coaxial contacts. Due to the wide range of contact options, crimping tools and accessories need to be selected by contact type and may differ between connector manufacturers.

Some manufacturers are now incorporating optical fibre contacts into their insert layouts. Specialised termination tooling is required for these applications.
